What is Protective Security?

Physical security (PhySec)

Physical security measures aim to either prevent a direct attack on premises or reduce the potential damage and injuries that can be inflicted should an incident occur. For most organisations this generally is applied through a mixture of general good housekeeping and appropriate investments in CCTV, intruder alarms, detection systems, fencing, lighting, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation that deter as well as detect.

Personnel security (PerSec)

Personnel security measures help organisations manage the 'insider threat' and risk of staff or contractors exploiting their legitimate access to their premises, information and staff for unauthorised purposes. When consistently applied, personnel security measures not only reduce operational vulnerabilities, they can also help build a hugely beneficial security culture at every level of an organisation.

Info Security (InfoSec)

Almost every business relies on the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its data. Protecting information, whether it is held electronically or by other means, should be at the heart of the organisation’s security planning. Applying technical, physical and supporting personnel security arrangements mitigate risks for loss of data and compromising assets.
